Walls can be an attractive and functional addition to any landscape build. Some walls are simply decorative, while most serve an important function. Retaining walls hold soil in place and prevent erosion and movement, and are often used to create varying elevations or separate areas for planting vegetation.
There are several types of retaining walls, with the most common being Gravity Walls, Cantilever Retaining Walls, Sheet Pile Retaining Walls, and Anchored Retaining Walls. The type of wall you build will depend on the needs and requirements of your landscape design, as well as several factors that should be considered such as type of soil and ground pressure.
Professional landscapers, like us here at Colorado Stoneworks, should be consulted to make sure you build a wall that is best for your needs and your property. Check out the video below for some examples of our retaining walls, and contact us for more info and a free quote!
One of our specialties here at Colorado Stoneworks Landscaping is our flagstone patios. We’ll work with you to come up with a pleasing design that fits your yard and budget, and can include things like boulder walls and water features. Take a look at our Patio Portfolio, or watch the following video to see some examples of our work.

It’s Spring, which means it’s time to think about how you want your yard to look for those BBQs this summer. If you’re thinking about doing something new, you may want to consider xeriscaping.
Xeriscaping is a landscaping and gardening method that reduces or eliminates the need for watering. It’s often promoted in areas with limited water supply, or that are experiencing drought conditions, but it’s good for anyone who wants to conserve water, and produce less waste, while still having a nice looking yard. Xeriscaping is also easier and less expensive to maintain than a traditional grassy lawn.
Xeriscaping employs a combination of plants, grasses, mulches, and rocks that require little to no water. Using a professional to help design and implement the xeriscape will ensure that it will be done in a way that is efficient and aesthetically pleasing.
At Colorado Stoneworks Landscaping, xeriscaping is one of our specialties! Check out our Portfolio and watch the video below for some examples of our work.

It’s officially Spring, and the Colorado Stoneworks Landscaping crews are back at work after a snowy winter. Now is a great time to start preparing your yard for the summer!
Hopefully you had your automatic sprinkler system blown out for the winter, and will need to have it turned back on so you can start watering. We’re now taking appointments, so give us a call if you need us to start up your system for the season. But don’t forget, if you turn it back on and the temperatures drop below freezing again (which is known to happen as late as May or June here in unpredictable Colorado!), you’ll need to drain the system to avoid damage from frozen pipes. You can learn how to do this yourself in our handy instructional video: How to Drain Your Sprinkler Supply Lines. If you’d prefer to wait until the warm weather is here to stay, you can set your appointment for a little later and hand-water your plants and grass with a hose in the meantime.
If you’re planning a new landscaping or xeriscape project for your yard this summer, now is a good time to get the ball rolling. You’ll want to get a quote (FREE!) and start working on a design, if you don’t have one already. We’ve recently added a bunch of new projects to our Portfolio, so be sure to check them out if you’re looking for some inspiration, or just want to get an idea of the quality of our work.
In our Portfolio, you’ll also find examples of some of the other work we do, like our beautiful stone patios and water features. Take a look at our Services for a full list of what we offer, including prices, and let us know if you have any questions or would like a free quote.
